March 2022 SHC Noon Lecture featuring Dr. Nathan Crowe In-Person

Join us for a noon lecture with Dr. Nathan Crowe!

The March 2022 Student History Club (SHC) Noon Lecture will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 12 PM virtually on Zoom. Dr. Crowe will present, “Forgotten Clones: The Birth of Cloning and the Biological Revolution.”

Dr. Nathan Crowe is a historian of science, technology and medicine and an Associate Professor in the history department at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. He specializes the history of twentieth century biosciences, specifically looking at the conjunction of biotechnology, biomedicine, bioethics and American Culture. His most recent work looks at the early history of cloning, both how it developed out of cancer research and how it became ethically problematic well before a sheep named Dolly was born. Dr. Crowe holds an BA in Biology from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, a MA in history from North Carolina State University, and completed his PhD at the University of Minnesota.

This event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and registration is required by Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 5 PM to reserve your seat and receive log in information.

The March 2022 Student History Club (SHC) Noon Lecture is sponsored by the Waring Library Society and hosted by the Waring Historical Library.
